While we might not have access to the kinds of gadgets Agent 007 uses to save the world time after time, the Chicago technicians with American Comfort’s One Hour still use sophisticated technology that can save you a lot of money on heating repairs. Our infrared camera inspections use high-tech equipment that can spot the exact source of a problem so that we can diagnose and fix it much faster. We can also see signs of minor issues before they become major malfunctions that can be very expensive to repair.
How They Work
The equipment we use in our infrared camera inspections gives our technicians a clear view of any rust, corrosion damage, cracks or holes that may be present inside your furnace or air conditioner. This camera, which picks up wavelengths emitted by temperature, can see things that are invisible to the naked eye. It can detect tiny amounts of heat emissions that can signify structural problems and transmits a high-resolution picture to a monitor. Both you and your technician can clearly see what is going on inside your heating and cooling system so that you have a clear picture of what needs to be done.
What’s the Big Deal?
A lot of furnace technicians still use the “old-school” approach of using a mirror and a flashlight to diagnose a furnace issue. The problem with this approach is that it doesn’t give an accurate picture of exactly what is going on inside. For example, a tech can only see about 20 percent of a heat exchanger using the traditional method. Without using this advanced technology, there is no way that technicians can claim they can thoroughly perform infrared camera inspections. If you would like to have one performed in your home, contact us at American Comfort’s One Hour and schedule an appointment.
