Originally incorporated in 1922, Roselle is mainly a residential zone home to a population of over 23,000 people. Though once consisting of a rural atmosphere, the area has become more of a suburban haven with only three major commercial zones in the region. Prior to European settlements, the land was mainly inhabited by the Potawatomi Indians. After becoming a farming center for corn and flax, Roselle was touted as one of the regions through which the railroad line should run, leading to its greater population.
